Soliphon is the god of the sun in the Church of Meh. Many fungi really do sense light and use it as the cue to fruit. Soliphon's name means, roughly, the voice of the sun. Soliphon is not the sun. Soliphon is what the sun means to everything alive.

From Prozyfai's outward reach rose Soliphon, the god of the sun, the great warmth, the fruiting signal, the light that tells the Web when to push upward and show itself to the sky. Soliphon is not the sun. Soliphon is what the sun means to everything alive. The rhythm, the invitation, the annual insistence that now is the time...the time is now.
